Miyako as of August 31st, 2016 morning

Some stores and houses got flooded on the 1st floors in Miyako as you can see in this video. And there are roads have been closed due to the flood and trees blocking. Typhoon No.10 has left, but still some warnings, such as landsliding, heavy rain, flooding, are going. Please watch out.

Producer: Hisao Hashimoto Assistant Producer: Takahiro Akanuma  Navigator: Hisako Yamaguchi  Guests: Mr. Matsu'ura, Ms. Komukai (Miyako International Association)  The topic for this show was about Miyako International Associations that had established recently. Because they were all Japanese, they did not need the interpreters, so neither Togo-san nor I was there.  But, I joined the show via email by asking Miyako International Associations some questions.   Those questions and answers were as below:         Q1: Do you have a phone number or email address that foreigners can reach directly to English speaker there in the office? A1: Phone number is: 0193-62-3534 (Weekday) (after September 1st)     Q2: If somebody show up to the Miyako International Associations office saying "I have a stomachache. I'd like to see a doctor, but I cannot speak Japanese," will you support him/her? A2: If s/he come to the office or give us a phone call,

Origami is very difficult for anybody for the very first time no matter if you are Japanese or not. I am even still not sure how to fold one of the most popular origami crane ("tsuru" in Japanese.) I guess I don't bother remembering how to fold origami much. *LOL* The instruction of how to fold crane is as below:      And after you mastering folding origami crane, eventually, you would be able to make something like

At the Drug Store

At the drug store cashier:     Cashier: Do you have a fr*aking point card? Me:  No, I don't have the cr@p. *Suddenly the middle age woman behind me placed her point card on the cash tray, nodding. Me: Here. (I handed the cashier the money pretending like I did not see the point card on the tray.) Cashier:  Thank you. (She handed me the change pretending like she did not see the point card on the tray either.)

The First Mountain Day holiday in Japan

"'Mountain Day' was first introduced to parliament in 2014 following lobbying from the Japanese Alpine Club and other Alp-related groups. The bill passed and it was officially added to the calendar, set to be observed every August 11 starting in 2016."   Ref: Japan marks its first 'Mountain Day' By Elaine Yu, CNN Updated 0019 GMT (0819 HKT) August 11, 2016 http://edition.cnn.com/2016/08/10/travel/japan-mountain-day/   So, it was the first Mountain Day holiday in Japan. But I really don't know what I am supposed to do for this day. Shall I go find some bears in the mountain for some battle? No, man. It's So, I was just chilling today and making another meme for the Mountain Day holiday which is:

Road Trip to Tokyo

I had road trip from Miyako to Tokyo by my K-car last weekend. Somewhat I thought Tokyo is much farther from here Miyako, but it was only 600 kilo meters which is only 375 miles. I used to drive hundreds and thousands of miles by myself when I was in the US.  So, when I found it's only 600 km between Miyako and Tokyo, I thought I could make the round trip.     It sounds lots of driving (well, it was,) but it was actually fun. Here are some advises from my experience for whom planning to drive to Tokyo.     - On the way from Miyako to Tokyo, there are many PA/SA (Parking Area/Service Area where you can park your car and take some rest, bathrooms, vending machines, etc,) gasoline stations, restaurants, and so on along the Tohoku Highway, BUT, on the way back from Tokyo to Miyako.  I had a chance to fill the gas on the way back, but at the moment, I had about half tank of the gas; then I decided to fill the tank at the next gas station. However, there was NO gas station

At One Gas Station

At one gas station, I asked an attendance to fill the gas for my car. I paid with my credit card, and signed on the receipt. I also asked him to change the wipers. I paid with my credit card again, and the attendance said "That's OK, sir. I sign this one for you." I was like "Oh........ok." I know he meant for good, but felt bit funny.
