Heavy snow and penguin walk.

"The first snowfall in almost 115 years was recorded on Amami-Oshima island, a subtropical island located some 380 km (235 miles) southwest of the city of Kagoshima, while temperatures fell to record lows in western and southern Japan."   Ref: [Heavy snow clobbers central, western Japan] http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/01/24/national/heavy-snow-hits-western-central-japan/   There was not so much snow here in Miyako where belongs to the northeast region of Japan these days. Usually, Miyako has tons of snow around this time of the season, not the southern part of Japan such as Okinawa and Amami-Oshima.  But it appeared totally opposite this time. I have heard they were so excited to have snow there in southern part of Japan, and they wanted to make some snowmen. But because for most of them, this was the first time to see the snow, they did not know how to make the snowman. So, they google searched "how to make snowman." Interesting.   I would like to

Assistant Producer: Fumihiko Hakoishi Navigator: Hisako Yamaguchi Member: Toby Almy, Ben Pedersen Interpreter: Togo Sasaki, Ito Shunsuke Welcome back to MICR, Toby-san and Ben-chan!! It was very interesting to hear your holidays stories. The funniest one was that Toby-san and his friends were waiting for the decoration lights effects for the new year of Tokyo tower, and they kept looking at the Tokyo tower.  However, NOTHING WAS HAPPENED. Then, Togo-san asked Toby-san if Toby-san was sure where he was waiting was in front of the Tokyo tower, not the behind it.  All of us were curious if there is the front side and back side for the Tokyo tower *LOL*   I don't know why there was no decoration lights effects for the new year, but I guess there was just the regular Tokyo tower was standing in front of them just like regular days in front of Toby-san and his friends.  Tokyo tower might be like:             Maybe Tokyo tower has been upsetting after they buil

Producer: Hisao Hashimoto Assistant Producer: Yuri Kimura  Navigator: Hisako Yamaguchi  Guests: Sakuya Sugawara  Member: Togo Sasaki       Welcome to MICR, Sakuya-san ;)   She is the Miyako High School student who went to Germany for the exchange program.  The MICR show this time is about her visit to Germany.     Sakuya-san said that she and her host family there communicated in English instead of German while she was there.  That was not so much of surprising because I remember almost all exchange students from Germany whom I met in US did very well on the English exams; I heard that's because English and German are very similar languages.      In the show, they, Togo-san, Yamaguchi-san, and Sakuya-san were all struggling to find the English word for this:         I was like "LADY BUG!! LADY BUG!! That's 'ladybug' you all are talking about!!" in front of the radio.  (I did not go join the show this time for s

Producer: Hisao Hashimoto Assistant Producer: Saaya Tazawa Navigator: Hisako Yamaguchi Guests: Emmie Nakajima, Pura Mie, Hiroshi-kun, Honoka-chan Interpretors: Togo Sasaki, Ito Shunsuke   Thank you very much for coming to be part of the show, Emmie-san, Pura-san, Hiroshi-kun, and Honoka-chan!! That was very interesting show talking about the new year in Philippines and Japan. Yamaguchi-san said she had been to Philippines and she loved the foods there except the chicken feet called "adidas" which look like the picture below:           The moment I heard the name "adidas," I was confused because adidas is the sports shoes brand I thought.                 It was also nice to have those kids, Hiroshi-kun and Honoka-chan.  I think it was the first time to have their age kids for the MICR show.  Hiroshi-kun was bit board and did not talk much but he got "revived" after eating couple donuts after the show.  I guess
